About Moriah

Moriah Hayes

Hey, everyone! I’m Moriah, a Spanish/international security studies major from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Time well spent for me is time spent outside  I love fishing, hiking, kayaking, exploring forests and ravines around my house, and basically doing anything that involves getting dirty and breaking a sweat. In fact, after retirement (why am I thinking this far ahead?) I plan to go completely off the grid and become a fruit farmer in South America. So, if you ever find yourself below the equator, dehydrated and helplessly craving the most fresh and delicious fruit around, come to Moriah’s Papaya Farm (if you can find it, that is).

My interest in becoming globally aware started just before college, and I applied for the Global Engagement Fellowship Program for this reason. I have spent my entire life in Oklahoma, and I wanted the chance to explore new places, new cultures, and new ways of life. Through my travels and experiences, I hope to become a more aware and useful global citizen.

I took this photo after climbing Machu Picchu Mountain. We were 10,111 feet above sea level.
The view from atop Machu Picchu Mountain. We were 10,111 feet above sea level, and it was absolutely breathtaking.
