Two weeks ago, Spanish Club had its final meeting, and for me, it was bittersweet because I won’t be able to hold an officer position next year. I’ll be studying abroad at the University of San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador for two semesters (yay!), and so we are in the process of selecting all new officers for the club. The experience of actually being an officer gave me so many opportunities to learn about Hispanic culture and to practice the language, and further, I met many new people who are studying Spanish here at OU.
For our final meeting, we played board games including Apples to Apples, Cards Against Humanity, and a sentence-building game, all in Spanish! It was the perfect way to close the year, and it reinforced the idea that I won’t be at OU next year. Of course, I’m so grateful to be able to study abroad, but the experience will be difficult to adapt to at first. I’m hoping to find ways of getting involved at USFQ in the same ways that I have here at OU.
